FESTIVAL PREVIEW: Kingston On The Edge '09
What: Kingston On The Edge (KOTE) Urban Arts Festival
When: June 19 - 27
Where: All over Kingston & St Andrew
KINGSTON On The Edge or KOTE for short is considered the largest studio and performing arts festival in the English-speaking festival. It’s an urban art festival and a growing phenomenon staged annually in Kingston by a group of forward-thinking artists and art lovers. It is dubbed a nine-day celebration of creativity with the objectives of broadening the public’s perceptions of art and to inspire artistic exchange, experimentation and discourse. The 2009 theme is “Metamorphose’.
Like previous years, the festival will follow its desired intention of spreading art and its powerful messages of creativity and community, from the Kingston waterfront to the hills of St Andrew, while bringing radical social change to the nation’s capital through the arts. Venues and spaces will include most of Kingston’s leading art galleries, the Edna Manley College, the Philip Sherlock Centre at the University of the West Indies (Mona Campus), restaurants, bars, clubs as well as artists’ studios and homes.
