THE CULTURE REPORT: A roundup of the cultural news, happenings and insights we're buzzing about right now

HE’S GOT GAME: Dancehall star Wayne Marshall is giving all kinds of swag on the cover of the ‘Spring 2011’ edition of the FAME Fraternity Magazine, a semi-annual publication of the Blazin’ Fame 95FM. In the feature article, Marshall, who recorded his first track in 1999, shares details of his childhood, artiste influences and his upcoming projects. Marshall’s “My Heart” (featuring Mavado) was one of the play-it-to-death dancehall singles of 2010. The magazine is on sale at Genus Pharmacies in Portmore, Avery’s Beauty Concepts in Kingston and Sangster’s Bookstores islandwide.

ISLAND SPICE: Coming off a phenomenal 2010, beauty queen Yendi Phillipps is showing no signs of pressing pause this year. Weeks after signing a lucrative endorsement deal with mobile giants Digicel, Phillipps has landed a new gig as host of Island Stylee, Air Jamaica’s long-running in-flight television programme. Here’s what she shared with her Facebook fam: “Hey guys and dolls!! I wanted ya'll to know first and from me that I'm the new brand Ambassador for the renewed & redefined Air Jamaica! And new host of ISLAND STYLEE in-flight tv show!:Yay!!! Dreams do come true! BELIEVE!”

Looks like Yendi will be rolling in the dough in 2011. I am not mad…
