PM BRUCE GOLDING: The PM attends opening of new Downtown Municipal Transport Centre

DOWNTOWN DELIGHT: Mayor of Kingston, Desmond McKenzie, congratulates General Manager of the Urban Development Corporation (UDC), Joy Douglas, at the January 15 opening of the Downtown Kingston Municipal Transport Centre on Water Lane. The Centre is a collaboration among the UDC, the Parish Council and the Transport Authority to bring greater order to public transport in Downtown Kingston. Some route taxis terminating downtown and some rural buses will use the Centre. Prime Minister Bruce Golding (left) in his address at the function said the Centre was part of a range of initiatives to renew the city.

WALKING THE WALK: Rural buses and route taxis have their own bus park on Water Lane downtown, Kingston as of January 15, when the Downtown Municipal Transport Centre was opened. The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) will offer a complimentary shuttle service from the Centre to Parade and the Pechon Street bus park.
