STYLE AND SUBSTANCE: Who are the BEST DRESSED WOMEN in Jamaica?

As awards season rolls on with irresistible red-carpet affairs, complete with dazzling frocks and beautiful faces, I began wondering about the ladies here on The Rock who would turn it out if those kinds of glitzy, flashing-lights events were part of our annual social calendar. Here are the top five head-turners I came up with:

CAROLYN COOPER

It's been a while since I’ve seen Dr. Cooper (above) on the scene, but when she does make an appearance, it’s often in a big way, often donning fabulous floral-print dresses with the accompanying shawl, drop earrings and that elegant baldie for a complete style statement. On the all-important occasions, she always looks stunning, regal and effortlessly stylish.

LISA HANNA
I always like where Lisa Hanna takes her looks, channelling Hollywood-esque glamour in gorgeous LBDs, ensemble pieces and stunning shoes. Hanna is ever the pretty sight, while looking sleek, fresh and awesome.

MADGE BARRETT
Jamaica’s reliable ambassador of perennial fresh, regularly offers understated but pretty looks in a smart, mature way that gets noticed when the rest of the world is looking at jaw-dropping gowns. Barrett proves that high style is not limited to the curvaceous dress.

GRACE SILVERA
Many wonder what her secret is. The confoundingly youthful-looking Grace Silvera is all about clean, trendy styles, and the honorary babe works it big-time. And, I have to admit, she always looks ├╝ber-glamorous. Talk about knocking it out of the park.

YENDI PHILLIPPS
I wouldn't classify Miss Yendi’s style as flirty, but she consistently shows up in cute and unexpected looks that work. But she also earns kudos for the regular occasions when she steps out of her comfort zone.
