DESTINY’S CHILD: Selah Marley’s rich musical heritage is inescapable

Books aside, the beautiful tween daughter of Rohan Marley and Lauryn Hill, Selah, is (not surprisingly) all about music and fashion. In the latest issue of
Teen Vogue, the 12-year-old chica talks about her budding sense of style, as well as her intention to follow in the footsteps of not only her world-famous parents but her iconic grandpa, Bob Marley. “Singing is my favourite thing to do,” Selah says. “One day I hope to get signed to a record label.” In the meantime though, the straight-A seventh-grader is easing herself into the fashion industry with a modelling deal from Macy’s, already doing occasional jobs like runway shows.

Here’s what else the pretty young thing has to say in the April issue of Teen Vogue:

On her personal style: "My style is always different. Sometimes it's preppy, sometimes it's chic.”

Life with her four siblings: "If I were ever to go to war and come back as a veteran and make a speech, I'd say I got more scars fighting with my brothers than in the war.”

On her mother’s music: "I like her music. It's very truthful."

On her grandfather Bob Marley: "His songs are very soothing.”

Her future in music: "That's on my list. People tell me I have to follow in the footsteps of my mom and grandfather, but it's a lot of pressure—I can't really slip up and mess up the name."
