ON TO THE NEXT ONE: Bambino ready for his new challenge.
As if ruling the radio airwaves, wooing new customers as a Digicel brand ambassador and gracing the new cover of Buzzz Magazine weren’t enough, the man known to Jamaicans as Bambino is about to embark on yet another career-defining adventure as one of the new judges on Rising Stars, the hit televised talent show that enters its 8th season this summer. Here, TALLAWAH briefly chats with the one-named sensation, somewhat of a fast-rising star himself.
Congrats on your exciting new job. How did you get selected to serve as one of the new judges on Rising Stars this season?
I don’t know how I was chosen, but I got the call and they told me they wanted me on the show. And I felt really good about it.
Do you have what it takes to be effective in this new role?
Well, I’ve been in entertainment for over 20 years now. I’ve worked as a producer for a while and I am known in the media as a disc jockey. But there are a lot of things people don’t know about me, so hopefully they will now.
The viewing public can be very demanding and critical. What will you bring to Rising Stars?
I am just going to be myself. It’s been a good show, and I hope to help keep it a good show, and add to it.
Any last words?
I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of talent will rise out of the show this year. Because we have some real undiscovered talent here in Jamaica, and I hope the show continues to discover the real talent. For me, it’s not just a TV show.
