TOUR OF DUTY: Lorna Golding accepts New York honour for musician Cedric Brooks

BROOKS' MOMENT: Lorna Golding, wife of PM Bruce Golding, while on a visit to Albany, New York recently, accepted a New York state proclamation on behalf of Jamaican saxophonist and member of the Skatalites, Cedric Brooks who is ailing. The proclamation honours Brooks' life and musical accomplishments. Considered one of Jamaica's foremost saxophonists, Brooks is known for his solo recordings and is a member of the internationally acclaimed Skatalites band, the Mystic Revelation of Rastafari and the Light of Saba. Mrs. Golding is seen here with Assemblyman N. Nick Perry (left), Assemblyman Eric Stevenson (centre), Paulette Keise (sister of Cedric Brooks) and Assemblyman Herman Farrell.

ROLE PLAY: During Mrs. Golding's visit, New York State Capital Speaker, Sheldon Silver (2nd left) temporarily turned over the gavel to her during the Assembly. She was welcomed by Jamaican-born Assemblyman N. Nick Perry (left) and Assemblyman Eric Stevenson, who is of Jamaican parentage.
