ALL EYES ON HARRIS: It's absolutely wonderful that Dahlia Harris is back hosting specials on TV J. Several months after embarking on a hiatus to channel her energies into theatre and other artistic pursuits, the multifaceted Harris has seemingly returned to her television comfort zone, last week hosting TV J's live Independence Day special at the National Stadium. Radiant as ever, Harris (also engaged to be married, lest we forget) brought a breath of fresh air to the broadcast. Welcome back!
SECOND ACT: Speaking of faces on the television, veteran journalist Owen James has found a new home for his acclaimed brand of business reporting. Join him weeknights for The Owen James Report at 8:20 pm on CVM TV for the top business and finance news from Jamaica, the Caribbean and the world.
THE DEPARTED: On a sad note, the wider Jamaican community joins the the Press Association of Jamaica in paying tribute to celebrated journalist Anthony 'Tony' Abrahams (The Breakfast Club) who recently passed away at 71. Abrahams' absence from broadcast media due to illness, which culminated in his death, has left a gaping void in the public square of ideas. In remembering Abrahams, PAJ President Jenni Campbell, says his contribution to broadcast journalism is "unrivalled" and he will be sadly missed.
