WOMAN ON A MISSION: Sheryl-Lee Ralph is still ‘Singing!’ for charity

LEADING LADY: Ralph returns with her acclaimed fund-raiser.

In keeping with her lifelong goal of promoting HIV/AIDS awareness and raising funds to help in the fight against the terrible disease, actress and activist Sheryl Lee Ralph is once again putting on the DIVAS Simply Singing! event, which is now its 21st year.

Hosted by Niecy Nash, the event is scheduled for Saturday Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles. The benefit concert will feature appearances and performances by R&B’s Kelly Price, actress Jenifer Lewis, hip-hop artist YoYo and gospel singer LaShun Pace, among others.

But the highlight of the evening is sure to be the reunion of Broadway’s original trio of Dreamgirls: Jennifer Holliday, Loretta Devine and, of course, Ralph herself.
