PERFECTLY IMPERFECT: New exhibit to showcase ceramics by artist Jag Mehta

MEHTA DESIGN: Ceramics in the spotlight for new exhibit.

Opening Oct. 27 at the Mutual Gallery in Kingston, Jag Mehta will introduce a range of modernistic ceramics to art lovers with a display titled “Imperfect… but Perfect.” The exhibition is being presented in partnership with the National Commercial Bank, Carreras, Capital and Credit Merchant Bank, Ideal Porfolio Services, RBC Royal Bank, Super Plus, Island Mist, NEM, BCIC, Nova Scotia Private Banking, Kool 97 FM and Smith Russell & Co.

According to a release from the gallery, Jag Mehta’s ceramics, which are known for their clean, uncomplicated lines have acquired a sensitivity that makes them even more compelling. "They are generally glazed in soft hues," the gallery explains, "and are at times coated with blazing, rich glazes."

Jag Mehta studied ceramics on a part-time basis at the University of Puerto Rico, the Liga del Arte in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the Edna Manley for the Visual and Performing Arts and the Loughborough University of Technology in England.

The exhibition closes on Nov. 19.
