IN THE GROOVE: Mario Evon and Aisha Davis make sweet melodies
There’s hardly a more meaningful and appealing approach to music than the romantic route. Reggae soul vocalists Aisha Davis and Mario Evon got the memo and make a lovely melodic pairing on the soothingly tender “Love of a Lifetime,” a nicely-written track that the talented two penned and recorded a while back but are just now sharing with the world – perhaps in the hope that it’ll gain some traction into the holiday season.
Produced by Trevor Forrest for Secret Chunez Production, "Lifetime" is a wonderful slice of easy-listening reggae. With its slender acoustic motif and minimalist arrangement/production, the single provides a mesmeric showcase for the vocal capabilities of the singers, who find common ground in the song’s warmth, basic rhythms and soaring moments. The accompanying video clip (not a big-budget visual, unsurprisingly) depicts the duo in the studio booth laying down the vocals, and at times just goofing around. It’s testament to their ability to easily locate the fun and joy in an artistic experience.
According to a recent release from the artistes, the complete (translate: fully produced) version of the song is not yet available. Nevertheless, what they have already created sounds pretty darn good. And that’s cool with lovers of good music.
