2012 GRAMMY AWARDS: Shaggy, Marley brothers snag nods for Best Reggae Album

CREAM OF THE CROP: Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Adele and Foo Fighters nominated for Album of the Year.

The nominations for music’s biggest night have been announced. Rap megastar Kanye West leads all contenders with 7 nods, followed by Bruno Mars, Adele and Food Fighters with 6 nods apiece. As for the five names up for Best Reggae Album, there is little surprise. Marley brothers Ziggy and Stephen, no strangers to the category, scored nominations for their albums Wild & Free and Revelations Part 1, respectively. Shaggy also makes a return to the race with Summer in Kingston, while Monty Alexander (Harlem-Kingston Express Live) and Israel Vibration (Reggae Knights) round out the list.

Song of the Year:

Album of the Year:
21 (Adele); Wasting Light (Foo Fighters); Born This Way (Lady Gaga); Doo-Wop and Hooligans (Bruno Mars); Loud (Rihanna)

Best New Artist:
The Band Perry; Bon Iver; J. Cole; Nicki Minaj; Skrillex

Best Reggae Album:
Harlem-Kingston Express Live (Monty Alexander); Reggae Knights (Israel Vibration);
Revelations Part 1 (Stephen Marley); Summer in Kingston (Shaggy); Wild & Free (Ziggy Marley)

Winners will be announced when the 54th Grammy Awards air Feb. 12 at 8:00 pm on CBS.
