ON THE SCENE: Ed Bartlett + Michael Edwards + Shaggy + PM Andrew Holness

STUDIO CHEMISTRY: Nov. 20, New York. Shaggy and singer Kat DeLuna hit Shaggy’s studio, The Ranch, in New York the other day for a recording session. Shaggy later tweeted: “Thanks to Kat DeLuna for coming 2 The Ranch and blessin 1 of my joints w/ her vocals.” The new record is for Shaggy's upcoming as-yet-untitled album. Meantime, Shaggy is celebrating his latest Grammy nomination, for the chart-topper Summer In Kingston.

HENDRIX SUMMIT: Nov. 27, St. Ann. The recent inaugural staging of Jimi's Jam in Winefield, St. Ann, brought out music lovers like (from left) emcee Michael Edwards, a patron, Omar Francis, the featured guitarist for the live music segment, and Mark McKenzie, a Hendrix aficionado and former CEO at Red Stripe.

LAUGHING MATTER: Nov. 29, Kingston. It's a light moment for PM Andrew Holness, Premier of the Cayman Islands, McKeeva Bush and tourism minister, Edmund Bartlett, during a brief meeting at Jamaica House. Premier Bush said Caribbean countries need to strategize and create collaborations as they are losing the synergies of cultural ties. PM Holness noted that if this is accomplished, there will be big benefits to be achieved.

PRESSING ISSUES: Nov. 29, St. Andrew. PM Andrew Holness on Tuesday met with a group of senior journalists at Vale Royal, where he spoke about his new role as head of the Jamaican government, in addition to a few media-related matters.
