SISTERS WITH VOICES: Alaine, Tami, Queen Ifrica, and Tessanne celebrate sisterhood

SUPER WOMEN: The fab four promote girl power on new single.

What do you get when four of reggae’s most exquisitely gifted and versatile females assemble to record a track? In the case of Tessanne Chin, Alaine, Tami Chynn and Queen Ifrica it’s a heartfelt, stirring and just plain beautiful collaboration. Buoyed by the melding of such rich talent, “Beautiful Sister” sails on a mixture of sharp melodies, sensitive writing and lush vocals, with Ifrica supplying a bit of edge.

By all accounts, the four ladies (who co-wrote the mid-tempo single) are on a mission of female empowerment, encouraging their fellow sisters to “keep your head up” while celebrating their power, inner beauty, strength and independence. It’s a mission accomplished beautifully.

>> Also new in music:
More than two decades in the biz is enough to make anyone feel – and sound – jaded. Not Wayne Wonder. In fact, the veteran reggae crooner makes it quite clear that he has lost none of his flavourful vocal stylings on newest single, “Love Gets Sweeter,” a light, reggae-pop confection that speaks to holding on to the one you love in the face of misunderstandings and other relationship hurdles. A radio-ready hit.
