CULTURE PICKS: 3 Great Things For the Weekend

HOT NEW TUNE: No one working in contemporary R&B does the sexy bedroom ballad quite like Grammy winner John Legend, who could teach his younger contemporaries (looking at you, Trey Songz!) a thing or two. Off the forthcoming Think Like A Man soundtrack, Legend teams up with the rapper Ludacris for the slow-grinding “Tonight (Best You Ever Had),” a melodious scorcher that promises a steamy night of passion and bliss.
CONCERT SERIES: The catchword for the weekend is Marley. In observance of the 67th anniversary of Bob Marley’s birth, concertgoers in Kingston can catch performances by the Marley brothers and a host of other reggae acts in Trench Town on Saturday, Feb. 4 and inside Emancipation Park this Sunday, Feb. 5.
BLUE CARPET AFFAIR: Can anyone beat Tifa? Who will bring it best on the red carpet? These and other life-altering questions will be answered come Saturday when the Youth View Awards (YVAs) unfold in Kingston at the National Indoor Sports Centre. In between the fashion and fellowship, they’ll find time to hand out a few awards in over 15 categories that run the gamut from music to sports. Tami Chynn and Kruddy will perform hosting duties. Ce’Cile, Popcaan and Wayne Marshall are among the performers.
