CULTURE BEAT: Mission Catwalk news + Breadfruit Kingdom update + School of Drama’s latest

FIT FOR A QUEEN: Over at the award-nominated Breadfruit Kingdom (Centrestage, New Kingston), Sharee McDonald-Russell has stepped into the role of Queen Street, replacing Camille Davis, who had to leave the show “to attend to pressing matters.” We wish both talented actresses the best. Breadfruit Kingdom is up for 10 Actor Boy Awards. For tickets, call 968-PLAY.

CHILD’S PLAY: Dubbed a production for children 9 to 95 years old, One Smart Pig unfolds at the Edna Manley College this weekend at the School of Drama. Written by Matt Buchanan, the play is directed by Pierre Lemaire (above), who helmed last year’s visually rich The Button-Hole Bandit. For tickets, call 968-0028.

FRONT ROW: The Mission Catwalk production team is pulling out all the stops this year. In addition to receiving an array of prizes (including the chance to show at London Fashion Week in September), the Season 2 winner will be tutored by internationally known master tailor Prof. Andrew Ramroop OBE at his Savile Row Academy in London. Ramroop, who originally hails from Trinidad, made the offer which is valued at an impressive £14, 7000 (US$23,000). The new season of MC premieres next Tuesday, March 27 on TV J at 8:30 pm.
