BIG BANG THEORY: She’s primarily known as a catwalk diva and cover girl, but Nell Robinson is flipping the script this time around. The runway beauty is set to launch her very first swimwear line, Bang! at this year’s Caribbean Fashion Week (CFW), set for June in Kingston. And by her own admission, Nell is absolutely thrilled to be making such ambitious advances in the world of fashion while adding designer to her lengthy list of career credits. “This has been in the making for a while,” she confesses. “I have studied fashion and design, and I am ready to present a strong collection at CFW.” Caribbean Fashion Week is slated for June 7-11 inside the National Indoor Sports Centre.
CULTURE BASH: As it returns to its traditional home of the Boone Hall Oasis in Stony Hill, St. Andrew, the Kingston Pon Di River Literary, Arts and Music Festival is bringing out the stars. Headlining this year’s festivities (April 27-29) are the likes of singing sensation Diana King, culture minister and former Miss World Lisa Hanna, university professor Dr. Carolyn Cooper, and cultural icon Oku Onuora, among others. Add to the mix an overseas contingent led by Canada’s Karen Gibson Roc and Charlie Newton and Jonathan Eig, both from the United States.
