POSH SPICE: "It's all about reinventing yourself," says Ce'Cile.
Original dancehall vixen Ce’Cile is so used to hearing pesky rumours about her personal life that she didn’t even bat an eyelash when the rumour mill impregnated her recently with twins. (Knowing Ce’Cile, she probably had a good laugh.) But when it comes to setting the record straight, the singer wishes to clear the air once and for all: she is not with child. “I heard about the twins rumour. I don’t know where it came from. It’s not correct. I don’t know who gave them that information,” she told E-Prime last week. “As far as my personal life is concerned, they tend to get most of it wrong. And that’s fine. Everything is a rumour until you can see physical proof.”
By all accounts, Ce’Cile would much rather address matters concerning her artistry, which she is determined to elevate to new heights. “It’s all about hard work, and [music] is what I like so I dedicate a lot of time to it. I don’t party much and stuff like that,” she confesses. “It’s not just about doing stuff for our local market but looking at what’s happening internationally. And luckily for me, I’ve had a lot of success with certain hit songs that went on charts all over the world.”
But how does she manage to still be kicking butt in an industry that’s forever looking out for the new and the next? “To stay in the business so long and still be relevant is all about reinventing yourself,” Ce’Cile admits. “You always have to listen out and see what’s happening because it’s a reality: you are competing with a lot of other talented artistes, male and female, and you have to make sure your thing stands out. And for me, that has always been my blessing.”
