Jamaican-born Editor-in-Chief of Essence Magazine, Constance White, is getting her due. White (pictured here with singer Estelle), along with Tanya Leah Lombard (AT&T’s Vice President of Public Affairs) was honoured at last Saturday’s 62nd Annual Women of Distinction Spirit Awards Luncheon at the Piers Sixty, Chelsea Piers, New York. The event took place under the auspices of the Links Corporated (Greater New York Chapter), one of the oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of women linked by friendship and committed to enriching and sustaining the culture and economic survival of African-Americans and persons of African descent.
Buoyed by the wide acclaim for her novel Dog Heart, author Diana Macaulay will be hosted for book conversations in a variety of venues across the United States throughout this month. On Monday, April 16, she will attend a book signing at Bestsellers Books, 43 Main Street in Hampstead, Long Island.
Prize-wining poet and Calabash co-founder Kwame Dawes will be the guest of honour at the Jamaica College Old Boys’ Association (New York Chapter) 20th anniversary awards banquet at the LaGuardia Plaza Hotel, NYC. It’s a formal, black-tie affair, slated for May 12.
