On the heels of an official launch at New Kingston’s Wyndham Hotel last week, Style Week 2012 is set to rock the capital from Thursday, May 24 to Sunday the 27th. This year’s incarnation of the Saint International calendar event will include, among other activities, the charity-minded High Tea ‘N Style at King’s House; City Style on the Kingston Waterfront; the Port Royal-hosted International Mecca of Style; and the big finish, Fashion Block (“Set Fire to the Rain”), on Knutsford Boulevard.
Gospel star Kevin Downswell’s sophomore album, The Search Continues, will be launched at the Eastwood Park New Testament Church of God in Kingston on Friday, June 1. “It’s my way of giving back to [the fans],” says Downswell of the new record, “for the support they have given me over the years.”
And speaking of talented people, reggae’s new crown prince, Romain Virgo, says he’ll treat his Jamaican fans to a grand, free-to-the-public album launch inside Emancipation Park (New Kingston) on Wednesday, May 30. Virgo’s acclaimed second album, The System, recently made a Top 10 debut on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart.
