NEWS & NOTES: Konshens added to CFW 2012 performance lineup

Fresh from a whirlwind series of overseas concerts and club appearances, Konshens is set to light up the runway with a performance at Caribbean Fashion Week, which takes place at the National Indoor Sports Centre from June 7 to 11. The dancehall hotshot, who put out his acclaimed solo debut Mental Maintenance in March, joins a growing list of acts confirmed for this year’s CFW – which includes soul princess Estelle and R&B vet Brian McKnight.

Last Monday, several industry execs as well as artistes like Shaggy and Rayvon turned up at Miss Lily’s Variety Store in Manhattan to help Romain Virgo celebrate the release of his sophomore record, The System. Doing the acoustic thing, Virgo entertained the folks with renditions of cuts like “Mama’s Song” and “Not Today” before launching into the massive new hit “I Know Better.”

TALLAWAH joins the music world in mourning the passing of disco diva Donna Summer, who lost her battle with cancer on Thursday morning. She was 63. At the height of her career, the five-time Grammy winner was a veritable hitmaker who ruled the pop charts with “She Works Hard for the Money,” “Bad Girls” and “Hot Stuff,” among many other hits.
