IT TAKES TWO: Miss O and Cham pose backstage at CFW.
If you believe the chemistry between Cham and his lady love/protégé Miss O is limited to the home-front and their hit records like “Wine” and “Tun Up” – think again. As it turns out, their terrific dynamic even extends to the roles style and fashion play in their careers.
“She is the one who keeps me stylish. I never, ever shop," Cham confesses to TALLAWAH following their sizzling joint performance at Caribbean Fashion Week on the weekend. "She is the one that always find whatever is coming and I usually just go along with it. I am not really the fashion one."
As if to corroborate his story, he calls her over to his side. And you immediately understand why they are so great together.
With her cascade of black curls and a matching edgy punk-rock outfit, Miss O looks like she could be the poster chick for a movie version of Good Girl Gone Badass. She is telling me about Cham’s layered outfit for the night: “I was going for a kind of a casual-dressy look. Very casual but also dressy with the jacket and the T-shirt. What I select for him usually depends on the season and the weather."
Meantime, with a packed schedule ahead of them, the rest of the year will see Cham and Miss O delivering more showstopping concert performances like the one they rendered inside the National Indoor Sports Centre. “For this summer it’s a lot of work, a lot of touring,” explains Cham, 33. “I’m planning to drop some more singles and we have a lot of concerts coming up. And hopefully I can keep on touring with my wife.”
His “12-round programme” for 2012, he admits, is right on track and progressing smoothly. “It’s going beautiful. You noticed you got “Wine,” “Drop It (Doin’ It),” “That Way,” “Tun Up” and you have the summer songs coming. So you’ve got like four rounds out of the 12 so far.”
