WHEN IN ROME: “I know what I’m capable of,” asserts Bolt

PEAK PERFORMANCE: The sprinter dazzled in Rome on Thursday.

He’s back in stride. After a disappointing showing in Ostrava last weekend, the World’s Fastest Man gave his best performance on the track so far this year – at the Rome Diamond League meet in Italy Thursday afternoon – racing to a world-leading time of 9.76 secs to win the Men’s 100 M ahead of fellow Jamaican Asafa Powell, who clocked 9.91 secs for second place.

But what distinguished this super-speedy performance by Dr. Bolt was how amazingly focussed he seemed from the get-go, proving that if he maintains that sort of eye-on-the-prize mentality he can only be invincible on the road to London and beyond. “I’m happy with myself,” he told reporters after his big win. “A lot of people were questioning what I could do, but I never questioned myself because I know what I’m capable of.”
