NEWS & NOTES: Nadean Rawlins nabs juicy stage role + Funeral details for Mighty Mike

Fresh from her critically praised turns in Where Is My Father? and Not About Eve, veteran actress Nadean Rawlins has joined the cast of the award-winning drama God’s Way, which is currently winding down its two-month run at New Kingston’s Pantry Playhouse. Rawlins, who is up for Best Actress (for Eve) at the upcoming Thespian Spirit Awards, will alternate with Dahlia Harris in the central role of Valerie, a woman who is jolted to reality when crisis threatens to upend her family.

Family and colleagues prepare to say goodbye to Mighty Mike

The life of legendary voice of Jamaican radio Mighty Mike, who passed away on July 5 at the age of 52, will be celebrated during a thanksgiving service on Friday, July 20, at the Ridgemount United Church in Mandeville, Manchester, commencing at noon. Viewing of the body will begin at 9am. Mighty Mike (né Michael Anthony Jones) who spent much of his long career on the Irie FM airwaves is survived by mother Winnifred, son Hasani, sisters, brothers and other relatives.
