BITS & PIECES: Deanna Robins makes Top 5 at Miss World; Leftside debuts a blonde new look

CARIBBEAN QUEEN: Giving us yet another reason to smile in the year of our golden (Independence) anniversary, reigning Miss Jamaica World, Deanna Robins, sashayed and worked her way to a Top 5 finish at the 2012 Miss World pageant in Ordos, Inner Mongolia (China) on the weekend. Naturally, here on The Rock, everyone was rooting for her to cop the coveted crown, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Still, Deanna remains a winner in our hearts.

GOING PLATINUM: Evil never looked so good. Dancehall deejay and producer Leftside (who also goes by the moniker Dr. Evil) is sporting a fresh new look these days – a head of shiny blonde hair – as he steps into a bold new phase of his recording/producing career. Clearly, for many of today’s top entertainers, it’s all about embracing change in all its guises. As it happens, Leftside’s latest jam, “Clap Dat,” is a hot collabo with another colourful dancehall artiste, Konshens, whose flame-red hair has lent his image added (visual) interest.
