LIVE FROM JAMAICA HOUSE: Gov't officials say London promotional activities were within budget

DOLLARS & SENSE: Addressing a press conference at Jamaica House on Friday, August 31, Information minister Sandrea Falconer (2nd left), said the 'Jamaica House 02' promotion in London during last month's Olympic Games allowed Jamaica to benefit from tremendous media exposure. President of JAMPRO, Sancia Bennett Templer (left), said the promotion also facilitated a number of business linkages.

MONEY MATTERS: Jamaica's Director of Tourism, John Lynch, tells journalists that total expenditure for the Jamaica House 02 Initiative in London and its activities was well within budget and was best utilized. According to Lynch, the total cost was £969.652.000 (below the one million pounds that was originally budgeted), and included rental of the O2 space in the Millennium Dome, security, welfare of volunteers and the design and registration of the website to 2020. Lynch was speaking at Friday's press conference at Jamaica House, where he assured the gathering that Jamaica will reap shortly the benefits of the marketing and promotional activities from the initiative.

  1. Is the Jamaica House website still up? It cost 40,000 Pounds Sterling. Why so much? If it is still up, what use is it now?
