TALK OF THE TOWN: Bolt and Fraser-Pryce return home; Chendi’s secret engagement?; Etana kicks it with Nadine Willis

After sharing them with the rest of the world for almost four months (they’ve been gone since early July), we finally have our Olympic champions Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Usain Gold all to ourselves again. The top-flight athletes returned to the island on the weekend and are poised for some well-deserved R&R. Meantime, someone please fetch Bolt’s barber to give the golden boy a nice trim and shave so we can have him looking his very best.

Are Chino McGregor and Yendi Phillipps heading to the chapel? On the heels of celebrating her 27th birthday on Sep. 8 – and a couple weeks away from the “special delivery” – Phillipps and her singjay beau are the subjects of engagement gossip. Rumour tells a story that Yendi has been spotted wearing a dazzling rock on that finger, and the twosome are thisclose to finalizing their plans to get hitched in early 2013. Cue side eye. “They are very much in love and want to make it official,” a close friend of the couple tells TALLAWAH. Mr & Mrs. McGregor, that’s got quite a ‘ring’ to it. And baby makes three.

Our September cover girl Etana kicked off her new CVM talk-show, Against All Odds, on Sunday evening with a great interview with Jamaica’s ghetto-to-Gucci supermodel Nadine Willis. The duo kept it real during the hour-long chat as Willis opened up about her poverty-stricken roots, exploits in exotic dancing, and remarkable rise in the world of fashion. “I did it with the dignity of my intentions,” Willis said. We applaud Etana for her foresight in bringing such a well-needed show into the living rooms of Jamaicans at this time. Even the breezy open-air setting contributes to the show’s wholesome appeal.

What’s hot right now:
Digicel Stars’ budding pop diva Sherona Jonas slayed that performance of “And I Am Telling You” on Sunday’s live show. Loved it. Truly a fierce talent worthy of attention.

What’s not: Note to the show’s ‘bickering’ judges: Get a grip.
