COVER SHOT: Rihanna graces GQ's Men of the Year issue. Inset, Bolt.
The World’s Fastest Man is on a roll. In the wake of an extraordinary 2012 season, the international accolades have been pouring in at world-record rate for the Jamaican Olympic legend, who can now add GQ Man of the Year to his impressive and ever-expanding list of honours. Turns out Bolt has made the prestigious “Men of the Year” list compiled by the editors of the style bible, which annually spotlights supertalented standouts from the worlds of film, sports, politics, and so on.
But Bolt has been in GQ before; Post-Beijing, he was featured in the December 2009 issue (see below). But this year he’s in finer company. Aside from Woman of the Year, Rihanna, who strikes an eye-popping semi-nude pose for the cover, the 2012 honorees also include (to name just a few) legendary filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, actor Channing Tatum, and actor-director Ben Affleck, whose latest effort, Argo, is an awards-buzz crowd-pleaser.
Each year, the magazine hosts an exclusive star-studded party (in either LA or NYC) to fete the honorees. No word yet on whether Bolt will put in an appearance. Meantime, the sprint superstar (who is back in the gym these days) will be in Barcelona, Spain, on Nov. 24 for the glitzy IAAF Athlete of the Year awards ceremony.
