NEWS & NOTES: Let’s Play initiative launched + Star-studded cast for God’s Way 2

PLAY TIME: Certainly among the most keenly anticipated theatre productions of the fall, Dahlia Harris’ God’s Way 2: Carlton’s Redemption looks set to attract mammoth crowds to the Stephanie Hall Auditorium (Nov. 30 – Dec. 8), thanks in large part to its star-heavy cast. In addition to Harris, the players include Thespy and Actor Boy winners Nadean Rawlins and Ainsley Whyte (above) – and, in the all-important central role of Carlton, audiences will get a proper introduction to Carl Samuels, who some might remember, having seen him earlier this year in the School of Drama’s take on Lynn Nottage’s Ruined

KIDS AT HEART: A new islandwide initiative – “Let’s Play” – aimed at fostering the development of physical activity and a healthy lifestyle among the nation's youth has been launched as a partnership between the Sandals Foundation, Coca Cola’s Live Positively campaign , and Yohan Blake’s YB Afraid Foundation. “This means a lot to me,” Blake tells The Gleaner. “I have always said that kids are the future. When they contacted me I said that I definitely had to be here.” The project got its start in Trench Town/Jones Town earlier this week, but will in time be taken to some 10 schools across the island with the aim of impacting the lives of 5,000 children.
