STAR POWER: Asafa Powell donates to his alma mater + Cherine walks for breast cancer awareness + Watch Yohan Blake’s new infomercial

WALK THIS WAY: Actively fulfilling her duties as spokeswoman of the Yoplait Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, songbird Cherine on Saturday let her feet do the talking (and walking) as she participated in a 5K Walk aimed at championing the message of early detection and prevention in the fight against the deadly disease, one of the most prevalent killers of women. The singer, who is gearing up for the world premiere of her “Haffi Come Back” video, was joined on the walk by members of her very own Reach One Child (ROC) Foundation. Cherine later posted on her Facebook fan page: “Big up to the Reach One Child team members who came out this morning at 6:15am to support the 5K walk for #breastcancer. WE DID IT.”

STERLING CONTRIBUTION: For Asafa Powell, it’s always the season of giving. The former 100 M world-record holder last Thursday made a generous donation of $150,000 to his St. Catherine-based alma mater Ewarton Primary in aid of the institution’s planned upgrading of their PE department. Powell’s sponsors LIME donated a brand-new desktop computer to the school. Two Fridays ago, Powell was on location at the Jamaican-German Automotive School in Kingston to hand over a cheque of $250,000 to assist several Level-3 students.
