TALK OF THE TOWN: Andrew Holness’ fighting words + Glen Mills honoured at UWI + Tami and Sean Paul debut new track

Opposition Leader Andrew Holness was in a stark, no-nonsense mood at Sunday’s party conference put on by the JLP at the Jamaica Conference Centre (JCC) in Kingston. “Now is work time and those who have an issue, “Leave!” exclaimed the party leader during an unusually fired-up address. Naturally, the consensus is that the comment is aimed at longtime rabble-rouser Everald Warmington, an apparent controversy magnet who was on the verge of bringing court action against some of his colleagues a few days ago. Holness then continued with this jab obviously aimed at his PNP counterpart: “Now more than ever Jamaica needs a champion for the poor and downtrodden, not one who will come kiss baby and say I love you.”

“It’s always a pleasure to be recognized. It’s been a long, hard road, and I’m really grateful for what UWI is doing,” said Glen Mills, on being recognized with a special award at the CB/UWI 5K at Mona on Sunday. Mills, who earlier this month was conferred with an honorary doctorate, was joined at the event by incumbent JAAA president, Dr. Warren Blake, as well as Racers athletes Hansle Parchment and Warren Weir

On the lighter side of the spectrum, TALLAWAH is pleased to report that dancehall-pop stars Tami Chynn and Sean Paul have debuted a terrific new Washroom-produced collabo called “Sycamore Tree.” What took you guys so long to drop a duet for the people? Take a listen HERE.
