CULTURE BEAT: Beres Hammond sounds off on the industry and his legacy + 64 schools vying for Schools’ Challenge Quiz championship!

TAKE BACK THE MUSIC: Lover’s rock legend Beres Hammond is bemoaning the lack of solid development in the local music industry. “The business side of it needs more professionals. Mi frustrated with how some people approach the thing,” he tells the Sunday Observer. “They have to realize things are more like the corporate world.” On the subject of his vast musical legacy, he tells the paper, “If that should live on, and I hope it will, people will see that Beres left some quality, ’cause from I know myself I never cut my thing short.” 

BRAIN POWER: Bright sparks, rejoice! Schools’ Challenge Quiz has returned for its 44th season with an impressive 64 schools vying for the TV J Championship Trophy, in addition to a host of other super-attractive prizes and goodies. The matches air on TV J Mondays to Thursdays at 6:30 pm and on Fridays at 6:00 pm and 6: 30 pm. Calabar High are the defending champions.
