CROWD PLEASER: Teen fans showing some love to their favourite deejay.
On Wednesday of this week, super-busy hitmaker Konshens paid a visit to violence-plagued West Kingston to bring some much-need encouragement to senior students of the Denham Town High School, as they intensify preparations for the May/June external examinations. The dancehall superstar’s motivational talk stressed the importance of attaining a solid education, setting goals and working towards achieving them.
“Big up to mi Denham Town High linky dem…. They promised me a bunch of CXC passes this year,” Konshens later tweeted. “I told them to beat the books. Regardless of what you wanna be, you’re gonna need that brain shit.” Says a source at the school, “We are very grateful that he took the time to do this, because our students need all the encouragement they can get.”
Meantime, Konshens has always been the subject of incredible support from his teenaged fans, who recently helped to secure him a leading 8 nominations for the upcoming Youth View Awards (YVAs), set for Feb. 2 at the National Indoor Sports Centre. The ace deejay, who last Friday marked his 28th birthday with a big blowout party inside New Kingston’s Quad nightclub, is also hard at work on his hotly anticipated sophomore album, which could arrive sometime later this year.
