NEW MUSIC SPOTLIGHT: Must-hear new tunes from Konshens + Tessanne Chin + Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake’s forthcoming third solo album, The 20/20 Experience, finds him reuniting with superproducer Timbaland on splendid singles like the recently released “Suit & Tie” (alongside Jay-Z) and the just-arrived “Mirrors,” a bombastic, sprawling tune full of yearning and emotional heft that recalls his earlier work, especially the monster hit “Cry Me a River.” A-

Reggae-dancehall hitmaker Konshens has never been one to shy away from baring his feelings on emotional tunes (“No Hesitation”, “She’s Happy”) that equally show off his pretty-decent singing voice and penchant for soulfulness. Now comes his latest effort, a pain-soaked number titled “U Better Miss Me,” about pining after a lost love. Over the course of his career the deejay’s never made a secret of his prowess when it comes to the opposite sex, so you get the feeling that he’ll win her back. B

With her latest inspirational gem, “Call On Him,” songstress Tessanne Chin makes a point of reminding listeners of the power of prayer, especially in a climate as unpredictable and frequently chaotic as the present day happen to be. So in a time like now, when the world needs prayer, she advises, it’s best to release the fear and embrace strength while holding fast to the knowledge that the Almighty is still in charge. Produced by Don Corleone, the single can be found on the new Scriptures Riddim. B+
