ON THE MOVE: Hot 102’s Richie B calls it quits? + Dancehall-gospel star DJ Nicholas now based in Florida

NEW HORIZONS: Though he says he’s determined to maintain a strong presence on the local scene, especially through outlets like A Betta Tomorrow (the outreach ministry he co-founded with colleague Kevin Smith), veteran reggae-gospel musician DJ Nicholas has set up house in Florida, where he now resides with wife Sandra and their eight-month-old son Malachi. The entertainer slash minister who recently earned his third consecutive win as Favourite Gospel Artiste at the Youth View Awards says he’s currently working on a US promotional tour starting and is already taking the necessary steps to make a name for himself on the US gospel scene. The On the Shout artiste is also scheduled to release a five-track EP early next month.

OFF THE AIR: Has the Party Master left the building? Online reports are that well-known radio host Richard “Richie B” Burgess has tendered his resignation to the management of the Kingston-based Hot 102 FM with immediate effect. While the specific reason for his resignation is still unclear, he will no longer be heard hosting the popular ‘Hot Mix’ programme. In the meantime, Burgess was reportedly seen out and about in Miami a few weeks ago, fuelling speculation that he’s been shopping for new opportunities in South Florida. There’s even talk these days that he may be looking to explore ventures outside of radio.
