THE BUZZ REPORT: Miss Kitty joins LinkUp Radio family as new morning show host

New year, new moves. Radio diva Miss Kitty has joined the airwaves of the New York-based LinkUp Radio WVIP 93.5FM effective March 4. The vivacious star, born Khadine Hylton, has been tapped to host “The Mawning Link With Miss Kitty,” which will broadcast live from Jamaica from 6am to 10am, Mondays to Fridays. “The LinkUp Radio family welcomes Miss Kitty with open arms and we look forward to a fun and longstanding relationship with her,” said says Brett Rosenblatt, President of LinkUp Media Group of Companies. David “Squeeze” Annakie, CEO of LinkUp Media Group of Companies, echoed similar sentiments. “Our listeners want an entertaining morning show host, someone who they can relate to. The Caribbean audience has already fallen in love with Miss Kitty, and we know the Caribbean-American audience of LinkUp Radio will too.”

Buoyed by the warm reception for his latest album, My Way, Wayne Wonder was in top-notch form this past Tuesday night as he headlined the latest incarnation of Behind the Screen inside Usain Bolt’s Tracks & Records. “It was a great show. He still knows to work a crowd,” a concertgoer said.

Fresh from their triumph at this week’s Thespian Spirit Awards (Glass Slippaz snagged three wins), Jambiz International has issued a casting call for a new and upcoming drama series, set to air on TV J later this year. Auditions will be held March 9 and 10 at 11am at Centerstage Theatre, New Kingston. The auditions are open to males and females between the ages of 16 and 50 years old. To make a scheduled appointment to audition, call 754-3877.

With spring in the air, the bounty of Caribbean literary offerings is rapidly increasing. Among the notable releases on the horizon: Black Sand: New & Selected Poems by Edward Baugh; The Cartographer Tries to Map a Way to Zion by Kei Miller; and Supplying Light and Salt by Lorna Goodison.
