BITS & PIECES: Coppershot Disco named as official ambassadors of 2013 Smirnoff Dream Weekend

The award-winning Coppershot Disco has earned yet another accolade, as the sound system has been tapped to serve as the official ambassador of the Smirnoff Dream Weekend, the largest music festival in Jamaica. Coppershot is now the festival’s official sound and ambassador. Scheduled for August 1–6 in Negril, under the theme "Larger than Life," the event annually attracts countless visitors to the resort town. "We will be repping the festival everywhere. No matter where in the world we are, we will be reppin’ for the week of activities," says the sound's Matthew Gray. "We will be kicking the energy and the vibes around the event in full gear."

Returning with a diverse batch of cultural offerings, this year's staging of Kingston On The Edge (KOTE), will rock city Kingston from June 21-29, with various activities set to unfold across the Corporate Area. "Last year was a great success, due in no small part to the help, encouragement and vibes that you all brought," the organizing team offers in a release. As ever, we're looking to build on that foundation and push the arts even further into the centre of Kingston life -- and not just for a week, either... We're always open to new and creative input."

Poised to serve as one of the main highlights of this month's African Diaspora World Tourism Awards & Travel Expo in Atlanta, Donisha Prendergast will present her popular travel documentary Rasta: A Soul's Journey and make herself available for an audience Q-and-A following the screening on Thursday, Apr. 25. A cultural feast in the making, the much-anticipated African Extravaganza will take place the next day.
