READ THAT, HEAR THIS: Dan Brown's newest blockbuster + Lana Del Rey's deliciously dark 'Paradise'

BY THE BOOK: With international megasellers like The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, and The Lost Symbol, Dan Brown masterfully fused history, art, codes, and symbols. His riveting new thriller, Inferno, finds the author returning in fine form, offering what critics are calling his highest-stakes novel to date. Harvard symbology professor Robert Langdon returns, but this time he's in the heart of Italy, caught in a harrowing world centered on one of history’s most enduring and mysterious literary masterpieces, Dante’s Inferno. Against this backdrop, Langdon faces down a chilling adversary even as he grapples with an ingenious riddle that pulls him into a landscape of classic art, secret passageways, and futuristic science. As he'd done in the past, Langdon must race to find answers and decide whom to trust before lives are irreparably altered. Inferno arrives in bookstores and online May 14.

HIT GIRL: Already a masterpiece on its own, Lana Del Rey's debut disc, Born To Die (an intriguing mix of magic and melancholy) gets a wonderful upgrade with the Paradise Edition, featuring nine previously unheard tracks. Best of all is the fantastic cut "Ride," a transporting ballad that evokes dreamy, cinematic landscapes. The video, which I recently came across on YouTube, doesn't disappoint, winning you over with its free-wheeling mash-up of bikers, daring night life, and the great outdoors.
