CATCH THE BUZZ: Digicel appoints new CEO for Jamaican market + Jerry D gets a hero's homecoming at RJR

NO PLACE LIKE HOME: The RJR Group on Monday rolled out the red carpet and served up intense, stylish fanfare to signal the grand return of 'Vibemaster' Jerry D to the Lyndurst Road family. Jerry D returns to weekday afternoon radio as the host of Vibe 360, "It's about bringing people together. It will straddle the different strata of the society," explains the broadcaster, speaking in a TV interview. Programmes Manager Derrick Wilks feels that having Jerry back in the fold will boost listenership. "We hope to deliver what the customers want, what the listeners want, and we're looking for great things out of this partnership."

ON THE JOB: Barry O’Brien is the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Digicel Jamaica, replacing Andy Thorburn, who has been promoted as CEO for the Caribbean and Central America. Most recently, O’Brien led Digicel Barbados for the last four years, with oversight responsibility for Digicel Dominica, and assumes his new post with two decades of experience in the telecomms industry. "After four years leading Digicel Barbados, I am delighted to be joining Digicel Jamaica and looking forward to working with the team to build on the great achievements of the last 12 years,” says O’Brien. “As always, our focus will be on ensuring that our customers can achieve extraordinary things with Digicel and that we do all that we can to give back to our communities." At the present, the Digicel Group boasts 13 million customers in 31 markets in the Caribbean, Central America and Asia Pacific.
