EDITOR'S PICKS: Tyrone recommends a taut psychological thriller + A timeless bestseller with bite + Audra McDonald's fabulous new CD

MUST-HEAR ALBUM: Ranking high among this month's most exciting studio releases is Go Back Home, a new album from five-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald. Blessed with an out-of-this-world soprano, the veteran actress slash songstress imbues 12 showtunes and standards with a lush vocal splendour entirely her own, which makes the album all the more of a pleasurable listening experience. Highlights include splendid renditions of "The Glamorous Life", "Make Someone Happy" and the simply magical title track.

DVD SPOTLIGHT: Oscar winners Al Pacino, Robin Williams and Hilary Swank turn in powerful performances in this riveting, well-made psychological thriller from Christopher Nolan (Memento, The Dark Knight Rises). When two LAPD detectives are called to a remote Alaskan town to aid in the investigation of the shocking murder of a teen girl, they find themselves combatting a smart, twisted killer and the brilliance of the Midnight Sun.

CLASSIC READ: Who didn't enjoy the Academy-Award-winning big-screen adaptation of this 2009 runaway bestseller by Kathryn Stockett? Set in early-60s Mississippi, this wise and poignant novel follows two Black housekeepers (Minnie and Aibileen) and an unlikely ally (budding writer Skeeter), who decides to write a book about the maid's lives. With their courageous efforts, they manage to shake up the city's imbalanced social hierarchy, and witness their own lives change forever.
