"Your Love"
We're loving this mellow lovers-rock slow-burner (which goes down like a cool martini on a warm summer day) from the supertalented Jamaican songbird who's finally getting her due (and still paying her dues), while possessed of melismatic singing chops, sultry vocals, and a fine ear for melody. Worth repeated spins. B+
Lauryn Hill
"Neurotic Society"
The original queen of the neo-hip-hop movement comes out swinging on this socio-politically charged, futuristic-leaning new track, which announces a mild, albeit edgy, departure for the iconic entertainer. Powerful message, even if a tad preachy. B
Janelle Monae feat. Erykah Badu
"Q.U.E.E.N"
It doesn't get better than this: two of soul-funk's most respected (and eccentric) proponents joining forces and waving the freak flag sky-high on this snazzy, electro-spiked tune celebrating self-worth, sexuality, and girl power. B+
