THE BUZZ REPORT: Culture and entertainment news people are talking about right now

ON THE RECORD: Hip-hop megastar Kanye West and soul sister India.Arie will release new albums within weeks of each other next month. West, 35, has announced that his hotly anticipated sixth solo effort, Yeezus (with its unsurprisingly controversial artwork), is due out June 18 via Roc-A-Fella Records, and will include collaborations with the likes of The-Dream and spoken-word artist Malik Yusef. Meantime, four-time Grammy winner India.Arie's Songversation (her fifth LP), a follow-up to 2009's Testimony: Volume 2, arrives on June 25.

CASTING ROOM: Returning to his comfort zone, veteran actor Volier Johnson heads a talented cast in the upcoming comedy 18 1/2 Hitchen Street, which premieres at New Kingston's Pantry Playhouse in mid-June. Exploring conflict between landowners and residents, the show is written (and will be directed by) Andrew Roach. Chris Hutchinson and a pair of English-based actresses will co-star.

LISTEN UP: Assembling an impressive 16-track collection, Katchafire (one of the most popular and successful groups out of New Zealand and the South Pacific) will release  greatest-hits compilation The Best So Far on May 21 via Greensleeves/VP Records. Listeners can expect a few of the group's breakthrough jams and such fan favourites as "Get Away" and "Giddy Up."
