HAVING HER MOMENT: The stunning beauty basks in the spotlight.
Gorgeous Gina gives fresh meaning to the idea of the total package. Backed by her natural beauty, incredible poise, and outsize brilliance -- not to mention a supremely athletic physique -- the newly crowned Miss Jamaica World (née Gina Hargitay) seemingly has what it takes to walk away with the global title later this year, as she reps our little island in the sun. Could she be The One? Get to know our fabulous new ambassador:
Personals: 18 years; 5'10; born to a Jamaican mom (Marlena) and a Hungarian dad (Peter); spent a great deal of her coming-of-age phase in Europe; recently completed A-Level studies in History, German and Chemistry.
The Natural: During Sunday's coronation show inside the Montego Bay Convention Centre, Hargitay also snagged three of the key sectional prizes going: Most Sociable, Best Smile and Most Aware.
Eye on the (global) prize: "It's about time Jamaica had another Miss World, and I hope to be that Miss World," concludes the young beauty, already keenly focussed on the mission ahead.
Mandela, her hero: "I admire the fact that after almost three decades of being incarcerated, he came out of prison and, although he must have been frustrated and angry, he opposed the government in a non-violent way."
