IN THE MIX: Konshens set to launch new footwear line + Alborosie to debut Sound The System LP + Eddie Murphy drops an irie new reggae tune

NOTE WORTHY: Come September 30, reggae hitmaker Alborosie will continue his musical mission with the US/Caribbean release of his self-produced, landmark album and vinyl LP, Sound The System, on Greensleeves Records. The singer also has a US tour planned for February 2014 in support of the North American release. Tour dates will be announced later this fall. According to a new release, the album, which was released in Europe in July, boasts "the perfect balance of live instrumentation and analogue recording techniques and is filled with Alborosie's signature thought-provoking lyrics, satisfying vocals and classic contemporary sound."

ISLAND FLAVOUR: Eddie Murphy sounds surprisingly rootsy-groovy on his bouncy new reggae single "Red Light," the lead-off track from his forthcoming solo album, 9. It features a cameo by Snoop Lion, whose own headline-snagging reggae offering Reincarnated came out months ago. Ever since his show-stopping Oscar-nominated performance in Dreamgirls, we've known that Murphy is possessed of some powerful belting chops, but on the new single , he reveals yet another dimension: the cool-conscious crooner who's not afraid to showcase his inner reggae-loving soulster. Take a listen HERE.

BEST FOOT FORWARD: Dancehall hotshot Konshens keeps reminding us that he's morphed into a highly marketable brand with wide-ranging appeal spanning music, fashion and other areas. According to online reports, the deejay's latest venture is a shoe line dubbed Konz876, launching Sep. 13 at New Kingston's Quad nightclub. He tells The Star, "I chose a shoe line because you can bring more culture into it. It takes a lot more effort as opposed to printing t-shirts, plus there is a huge market for it."
