ON THE JOB: PM Portia Simpson-Miller bids farewell to China's Ambassador + Some 80 students benefit from PM's Constituency Development Fund

ATTENTION TO DETAIL: During a farewell courtesy call at Jamaica House, PM Portia Simpson-Miller greets His Excellency Zheng Qingdian, outgoing Chinese Ambassador, recently at the Office of the Prime Minister. The prime minister noted that Ambassador Qingdian will be greatly missed and that Jamaica is grateful for the work he carried out during his tenure to fortify the relationship between both countries. The Ambassador is scheduled to leave the island next week after serving for two and a half years.

HIGHER LEARNING: Louisha Donaldson, a second-year student of the University of the West Indies, happily accepts her sponsorship letter from PM Simpson-Miller during a recent presentation ceremony at Jamaica House. Donaldson was among 80 recipients of scholarships from the prime minister’s Constituency Development Fund. The awards were presented based on academic merit and financial need. Mrs. Simpson-Miller encouraged the recipients to pursue their education with passion and to contribute to the development of their community on completion of their studies. Also participating in the ceremony were area councillors Carl Blake (left) and Audrey Smith-Facey.
