This past Tuesday, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce's Pocket Rocket Foundation made a donation of more than $700,000 to seven high-school students at an awards ceremony held at Devon House in St. Andrew. The funds will go toward off-setting costs for tuition, lunch money and other incidental costs related to their school attendance.

The Pocket Rocket Foundation is supported chiefly by Grace Foods, Sagicor and Nike.

The seven recipients are Rojaire Bingham (Mona High); Brenton Bartley (Campion College); Tahjia Lumley (Papine High); Jovaine Atkinson (Kingston College); Carlton Collins (Munro College); Shavar Scott (Ardenne High) and St. Jago's Kimone Shaw, the sole female awardee.

The Pocket Rocket Foundation was born out of a desire by the multiple Olympic champion to have a lasting impact on the lives of student athletes and wards of the state across Jamaica, by providing academic scholarships and other means of assistance.
