WOMAN ON THE GO: PM Portia Simpson-Miller raps with top GSAT scholars and meets with President of the CDB

BRAIN POWER: PM Portia Simpson Miller shares a warm embrace with GSAT awardee Nathaniel Lowe, who will be attending Trench Town High School, after presenting him with a gift voucher at a special awards function at Jamaica House last Friday, August 30. The Prime Minister urged the students to always surround themselves with positive people who can encourage and help advance their education and success in life. Each academic year, successful GSAT students of staff members of the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and the Office of the Cabinet are specially recognized by the OPM. This year, fourteen students were so honoured.

OFFICE POLITICS: Here, the PM greets the President of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), Dr Warren Smith, during a courtesy call at the Office of the Prime Minister last Friday, as well. PM Simpson-Miller and the CDB President discussed Jamaica's growth development plans, investment opportunities and CDB assistance including a Special Allocation Fund of US $33.8 million mainly for social development programmes. The prime minister also thanked Dr Smith and the CDB for its continued assistance and assured him of the Government’s commitment to do everything possible to move the country forward. Dr. Smith noted his appreciation of Jamaica's solidarity, support and commitment to the CDB.
