ON THE JOB: The deejays work the cameras on the set of their new project.
"I Am Going Home" is the title of a solid new collabo by local hitmakers Prodigal Son and Konshens, who are officially working together for the first time, though they've been pals for years.
On Wednesday night at Radikal Yawd in Drumblair, St. Andrew, the dynamic duo filmed the minimalist, unfussy video for the soulfully conscious tune, directed by Rayon "Professor" Smith of Supreme Media Expressions. "What I'm trying to bring out is the view of oppression, using artistic elements without being blunt," explains Smith, 30, who has previously worked with the likes of Ding Dong and D'Angel and on a few European Union projects.
What's it like working now with two of the hottest names in contemporary dancehall. "It's been a blast," Smith admits. "They are very creative people who work well with direction, which makes my job much easier."
As for Prodigal Son, recording a duet with Konshens was an inevitability. "Ah mi linky from long time, and he was the right fit for this song," says the gospel-dancehall star, adding that "Going Home" (which references inner-city realities and prison life) is the first single off his next album, a conscious-inspirational effort due out in the coming year. >> Take a listen to the new single HERE.
