PAYING HER RESPECTS: PM Portia Simpson-Miller attends thanksgiving service to celebrate life of Cecil Charlton

IT'S A SIGN: Ahead of the start of the October 6 funeral service to celebrate the life of former Mayor of Mandeville, Cecil Charlton, at the Northern Caribbean University gymnatorium in Manchester, Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller adds her signature to the condolence book.

A DEATH IN THE FAMILY: Here, the PM greets Veronica Charlton, Cecil's widow. In paying tribute to the late stalwart recently, the Prime Minister noted, “Mr. Charlton used his love of country and love for his parish to advance the town of Mandeville and the parish of Manchester." Having represented Jamaica on several overseas missions relating to water supply and Local Government administration, Charlton was awarded the Order of Distinction (in the rank of Commander) for distinguished service in the field of Local Government in 1976.
