GOOD NEWS: Jamaica tops regional awareness contest + Papa San hits the comeback trail

POSITIVE SPIN: From among participants representing 14 countries, the Jamaica Youth Theatre recently emerged winners of a Caribbean-based radio-song contest aimed at highlighting messages of combating HIV/AIDS infection and stigma across the region. Jamaica not only topped the competition, earning US$2,500, but also secured second and fourth place. Above, members of the troupe celebrate their triumph with health minister Dr. Fenton Ferguson.

ON THE RECORD: Poised to break his long absence from the charts -- and the spotlight -- Papa San is all set to release his latest disc, One Blood, which features his signature fusion of reggae gospel and hip hop, and appearances by creative collaborators like Fred Hammond, Israel Haughton, Lecrae and Da Truth. The legendary Jamaican entertainer (né Tyrone Thompson), alongside a few of his local-based colleagues, will officially launch the new project (set for a Jan. 21, 2014 release) during what is shaping up to be a massive concert at Jamaica College this Saturday, November 2.
